For the DigiPak cover we used a variety of different shots taken from the music video, blending the venue of performance and the story line. We chose to use Jess rather than Jo to show the mixing of these two parts of the video. The front cover of the Digipak shows Jess crashed out against the wall, and I think this particularly shows the feel of the song and the video. The trashy outfit and run down background work well together to create an interesting shot. We used bright pink for the title of both the band and the track as this both stands out and also references to the bands previous CD covers, in which a lot of neon text is used over the pictures.
The back cover of the Digipak is a picture of the exact same spot, flipped and with a large speaker in place of Jess. I think this works really well as it’s replacing Jess, who’s reference to the storyline of the video with a speaker, reference to the performance part of the video. The back has the barcode, lisensing and record company logos, creating a realistic digipak.
The inside flap simply shows a picture of another area of the room. We chose to use a slightly more busy and visually interesting photo as this section would be void of text. It allows fans of the band to see areas of the set up they they may not have caught in the music video itself.
The other two flaps involve a close up of the back cover photo, with lyrics included, running over the two sides. We chose to put in the lyrics as fans often search them anyway, having the official lyrics in the Digipak pays homage to the fans and allows everyone to read what the song is really about.
Finally, the inside and CD section is a close up of Jess, the CD and casing of the CD is the same photo, so when the CD is taken out of the case, you are not left with just a blank space.
